Evangeleena (Vangie) is a registered dietitian nutritionist and a NASM certified personal trainer. Her approach to nutrition aims to marry the science of human biology and metabolism with the inherent pleasure that comes from eating wholesome and delicious foods. Vangie was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. Coming from a Chicano background, food has always been something Vangie and her family have celebrated as a part of their cultural identity. Because of this, Vangie developed a strong passion for cooking and eating from a young age.

While attending college at the University of Utah, Vangie began to confront her struggles with emotional eating that lead to unhealthy behaviors and poor self-image. She sought mental health counseling and became a Zumba Fitness instructor at her university. For the first time in her life, she found a way to feel empowered about her mental and physical wellbeing.

Vangie graduated with a bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in chemistry in 2013. After graduation, Vangie moved to New York City to join Teach For America as a middle school science teacher. After completing two years in the classroom, Vangie decided that while teaching was something she felt passionate about, it was not her calling. Vangie left teaching to pursue a master’s degree in nutrition and dietetics from New York University in 2018. During her time at New York University, Vangie completed her dietetic internship there through Montefiore Medical Center. While going to school, Vangie continued to teach group fitness classes at Crunch Flatbush and became a NASM certified personal trainer and women’s fitness specialist. She has helped 100’s of people from ages 14 to 80 reach their fitness goals by incorporating what she learned while attending NYU with the unique needs of her clients.

In her spare time, she enjoys long distance running, which usually leads to entering in at least one marathon per year.
