Erika started out as a biology major in college but didn’t feel she was really connecting with her coursework. After chatting with a friend about her interests, she was inspired to take a nutrition class. It wasn’t long before she switched her major and decided to pursue becoming a registered dietitian nutritionist. With over 10 years of experience as an RDN, Erika still finds the science of nutrition just as fascinating as she did during that first nutrition class. Before joining the Culina Health team, she was the Senior Dietitian on the Bariatric Surgery team at Northwell Health Staten Island University Hospital.
Collaborative, inclusive, flexible. Erika firmly believes that all foods can be part of a healthy diet and that labeling certain foods as off-limits only sets us back in our physical and mental health goals. Erika can provide gentle nudges or direct feedback, depending on her patient’s needs. She loves watching her patients’ confidence and self-worth increase.
In her spare time, Erika enjoys morning cappuccinos, long bike rides, spending time with family and friends, and dinner dates (on the beach in the summer!) with her husband.
