Superfood Hot Cocoa

(GF, Vegan) Recipe by Gabriella Gavalas
Servings: 1 cup

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup of water
  • 1 cup of plant milk I used almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon organic cacao powder
  • 2 teaspoons organic maca powder
  • 2 tablespoons 100% pure maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon organic ground turmeric
  • Pinch of sea salt

Method
 

  1. Heat a small saucepan on medium heat.
  2. Add in plant milk of choice, as well as the water, and let that heat up for about 2 minutes.
  3. Add in the rest of the ingredients, and mix thoroughly to avoid clumping. Using a whisk works best.
  4. Continue to stir occasionally over medium to low heat for about 2-3 more minutes.
  5. Transfer to a mug, top with desired toppings, and enjoy!

Notes

Optional Toppings:
  • All natural marshmallows
  • Home-made coconut or regular whipped cream
  • Shaved dark chocolate
