About Genevive
Growing up, family meals were a shared ritual in Genevive’s home. Everyone helped with something–cooking, setting the table, and gathering around meals that always included rice and conversation. As she got older and began cooking for herself, she often called her parents to learn how they prepared the Filipino dishes that connected her to her family and heritage. Those experiences inspired Genevive to become a registered dietitian and shaped her belief that nutrition should honor the foods, traditions, and lived experiences people already know and value. Her experience supporting complex outpatient nutrition concerns has helped her translate evidence-based nutrition science into approachable strategies using foods that are culturally important to her patients.

Favorite thing to purchase at the Farmer’s Market or Grocery Store: Bagels, cream cheese, and English cucumbers for an on-the-go breakfast
Favorite cultural dish or comfort food: Pozole
Grocery shopping tip: Always check the ingredients you already have at home before going to the store!
Go-to morning beverage: A glass of water followed by a hefty drip coffee with oat milk
Nutrition philosophy in a nutshell: The best practice is the one you can stick to. It takes some trial and error to improve our nutrition habits, and it can sometimes be a challenge to practice non-judgment and self-acceptance. It is an ongoing exercise, but it gets easier over time!
A mindful eating moment you had recently: Recently I ate a small bowl of frozen mangoes. I savored the cold sensation of the frozen fruit in my mouth and the sweet taste of mango, which was really satisfying.
