About Ellie

My passion to become an RD is related to my own history of disordered eating as well as my work with youth & adults in social work environments. My family has a history of obesity and diet-related disease. Through personal experience, I know that good nutrition is life saving. I want to help others feel equipped and empowered in their own eating choices, hopefully leading to health, happiness, and longevity. I am passionate about diet-related disease, food justice and food apartheid, culturally humble care, and client- centered counseling. I have experience with and enjoy counseling patients on general healthful eating, weight loss, and blood sugar balance.

Get to Know Ellie

Favorite thing to purchase at the Farmer’s Market or Grocery Store: farmer’s market carrots

Go-to morning beverage: almond milk latte with a touch of vanilla

Favorite nutrient-packed snack: yogurt, granola, berries

A habit you swear by: Drinking warm water upon waking then having a balanced breakfast within 1 hour.

What’s your nutrition superpower?: *Adding* specific foods to create a nourishing meal and help balance blood sugar.

Nutrition philosophy in a nutshell: No food is off limits, sometimes we just need smarter pairings and better timing for healthful nutrition outcomes. We eat food for many reasons: to satisfy hunger, to connect with others, to fuel for activities, to celebrate big moments, to mourn something/someone we’ve lost, etc. I respect and embrance all of these reasons!

Nutrition myth or trend you find particularly annoying and would like to set the record straight: That carbs are bad– we need carbs, they are our body’s preferred fuel source!
