About Amanda
Amanda credits becoming a dietitian to her high school home economics teacher, and credits her love of food to watching her grandmother and family members cook at home. Before coming to Culina Health, Amanda worked at Penn State Hershey Medical Center with oncology and ALS patients. It was there that she realized the need for more preventive nutrition care.
Her passion for preventive care launched her into jobs where she provided 1:1 nutrition counseling, created nutrition programming for a large health insurance company, taught anti-cancer programs, and provided skills to equip SNAP educators to teach the basics of healthy eating. Amanda currently teaches nutrition for nursing students at a local university, where she hopes to elevate the importance of nutrition within healthcare.

What’s one small thing someone can do today to work toward a balanced eating pattern/lifestyle?: Fit a fruit and/or veggie into each meal every day. For breakfast, think eggs with peppers/onions/tomatoes or a banana. At lunch, incorporate carrots or pepper sticks on the side, or chop up an apple on a salad. For dinner, fill half of your plate with raw or cooked veggies to round out the meal.
