Amy was inspired to become a registered dietitian after witnessing a family member with diabetes recover from an episode of dangerously low blood sugar with proper nutrition. From that moment on, she knew she wanted to help people by teaching them about food and how it impacts their health.
With over 15 years of experience as a registered dietitian nutritionist in inpatient and outpatient settings, Amy still loves what inspired her to pursue dietetics in the first place — providing education and making meaningful connections with her patients and their families. Before joining the Culina Health team, Amy worked at Monte Nido Eating Disorder Center.

What’s your nutrition superpower? My nutrition superpower is working with my patients and their families to help them reach a place of recovery. Dealing with an eating disorder is hard on everyone in the family, and I help the entire family get to a better place. Having someone come in with a fear of a specific food when they come to me and leave loving that food is such an amazing thing to see.
Nutrition myth or trend you find particularly annoying and would like to set the record straight: Most people don’t know that there is a lot of research to support the fact that weight does not correlate with health. There are many studies out there showing that the Health At Every Size model can improve physical and mental health, including cardiac markers such as cholesterol and blood pressure.
