I have a strong passion for the prevention of chronic disease as well as reframing how nutrition impacts those with chronic disease. My motivation stems from a scare with high blood pressure I had in my youth, which prompted me to research nutrition and change my lifestyle.
To my amazement, the condition was healed after the lifestyle change and I was cleared by my specialist. I then realized the difference that healthy and balanced nutrition could make.
While my experience is across all disease states, I have a particular emphasis on GI disorders including Crohn’s, IBD, IBS, gastropareisis, as well as food allergies and diabetes. I take great care in collaborating with my clients to establish realistic and achievable goals grounded in evidence based research, empowering and motivating them to make sustainable lifestyle changes.
Favorite cultural dish or comfort food: Anything Mediterranean!
Favorite thing to purchase at the Farmer’s Market or grocery store: Trader Joe’s Samosas or Hummus
Favorite nutrient-packed snack: Greek Yogurt with berries
What’s one small thing someone can do today to work toward a balanced eating pattern/lifestyle? Remind yourself that habits take time to form! Be patient with yourself and focus on one change at a time.
Nutrition myth or trend you find particularly annoying and would like to set the record straight: Fad diets like Keto and Carnivore do not have the evidence to back up their use for weight loss! Unnecessary restriction tends to be unsustainable for long term change.
