How did you get into nutrition? 

What does your ideal day off look like? 

How would you describe your counseling style? 

I grew up on a farm in South Carolina where food and cooking were always a part of my life. As a kid I would cook dinner for my family and narrate the whole process, pretending I had my own cooking show. Years later, after graduating college, food became the enemy. With a new job in a new city, food felt like the only thing I could control. I got really rigid with my diet to the point where I'd eat dinner before going out to dinner with friends so I wouldn't "fall off track." It was completely unsustainable. 

Over time, I remembered my love for cooking and eating and (thankfully) made peace with food again. This journey ultimately prompted me to go back to graduate school to study nutrition so I could help others navigate this same process. 

I’d wake up around 8 or 9am, then drink my coffee and do a quick morning meditation. Next I’d take my dog Maggie for a long walk with my husband. We’d walk through Piedmont Park in Atlanta and stop by the farmer's market to pick up my favorite bread and some fruits and veggies. Lunch would be delicious sandwiches. I’d take an afternoon cat nap and have friends over for a casual dinner later on, ideally cooking something with my farmer's market finds. We’d laugh, enjoy the meal, and I’d happily be in bed by 10pm!
