As a kid, I was bullied and teased for being overweight. Despite numerous attempts to lose weight, I continued to struggle and felt powerless. It wasn’t until I learned a bit about nutrition in college that it finally clicked for me. With a more balanced and nutritious diet, I ultimately lost over 60 lbs and have sustained that weight loss for nearly 20 years now.
Spending time with my wife and kids! We have a three-year-old and twin one-year olds who keep us very, very busy. We love exploring new restaurants, playing in the park, and going to museums all over the city. I also cook a lot and try to involve my older son as much as I can. On Fridays, you can find us baking challah together in between (my) client sessions and (his) naps.
Flexible, collaborative, and incremental. I work really hard to meet my clients where they are and come up with a completely bespoke plan of action that works for them. I focus on the practical rather than the theoretical or the "ideal." Regurgitating nutrition science and dietary guidelines doesn't accomplish much if adhering to them doesn't work for your lifestyle.
Overdoing the alcohol can lead to poor decision-making, poor sleep, and poor hydration. I talk to my clients about spacing and pacing - that is, spacing out alcoholic beverages with a glass of water and pacing themselves while drinking alcohol. By working in more water and drinking 1 or 2 fewer drinks, you’ll wake up the next day feeling better and more energized!
