About Alex

Alex’s interest in nutrition began in high school when her grandfather was diagnosed with end-stage kidney disease. She watched her grandfather work with a dietitian to maintain the minimal kidney function that he had remaining until he was able to receive a kidney transplant.

After this experience, Alex decided to pursue a degree in Nutrition Science to become a Registered Dietitian. As a self-proclaimed “foodie,” Alex loves to create new dishes and help individuals become excited about experimenting with new foods. Her favorite moment is when someone gets as excited about food as she is.

Before joining Culina Health, Alex worked as a clinical dietitian at an acute care hospital.

Get To Know Alex

Favorite cultural dish or comfort food: Potato and cheese pierogies with butter and onions

Go-to morning beverage: English Breakfast tea with sugar, lactose-free milk, and a scoop of collagen powder

Favorite thing to purchase at the farmer’s market: Pickles or pickled vegetables

Favorite TV show: I can watch Grey’s Anatomy on repeat

Grocery shopping tip: Buy something as an easy backup meal! I always make sure I have pasta, canned fish or chicken and frozen vegetables at home. That way if my day doesn’t go as planned I know I have something at home that I can throw together quickly for dinner.

A habit you swear by: I add collagen powder to my tea every morning! I like to put regular sugar in my tea and I like to balance the added sugar with the addition of a flavorless protein option.

Nutrition philosophy in a nutshell: Embrace Imperfection – Recognize that perfection in every meal is not a realistic expectation. Setting rigid expectations can cause you to become overwhelmed. Fostering a flexible approach to eating is beneficial.
