About Paula

Paula’s grandmothers were cooks who passed on all they knew about food to Paula’s mother who then passed it to Paula. The more time Paula spent cooking, the more interested she became in food’s ability to prevent and manage disease. Paula realized she could fuse her culinary interests with her passion for health by pursuing a career in dietetics, which eventually led her to complete her Master’s in nutrition. Before joining the Culina Health team, Paula worked as a team dietitian at a personal training startup, and at God’s Love We Deliver.

Grocery shopping tip: Stock up on freezer/pantry essentials! You never know when you’ll need them.

What’s one small thing someone can do today to work toward a balanced eating pattern/lifestyle? Start planning your meals for the week and then make a grocery list.

A mindful eating moment you had recently: I was using my phone while eating breakfast and noticed I was eating super fast! Removing all distractions has been incredibly helpful in slowing down and checking in with myself.

Nutrition myth or trend you find particularly annoying and would like to set the record straight: Not eating fruit because it is high in sugar!!! Fruit is full of nutrients and shouldn’t be avoided. Sure, it should be enjoyed in adequate portions but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be eaten.
