Yanelis was born in the Dominican Republic and grew up in the Virgin Islands. She has loved food and cooking from as far back as she can remember. Her love for exercise grew when she moved to the US and joined the Air Force. After the birth of her first daughter, she saw the impact of finding the balance between both. In fact, her own postpartum weight loss journey inspired her to pursue a Bachelor’s in nutrition and the registered dietitian nutritionist credential. She was compelled to help others with their health journey and wanted to understand the science behind nutrition. Before joining the Culina Health team, Yanelis worked in outpatient and private practice settings focusing on weight loss, chronic disease prevention, and diabetes management. She is also an experienced chef with a wealth of recipes up her sleeve!
Compassionate, empowering, supportive. Yanelis’ mission is to partner with her patients and help them discover how to build a healthy relationship with food that supports their goals.
In her spare time, Yanelis enjoys exercising at the gym or outdoors and cooking with her family–some of her favorite foods are sushi, oxtail, black beans and rice, coleslaw, avocado, and sweet plantains.
